Description:

With I SEE KENTE, I chose to fused Ghanaian culture, artistry and textile design to produce a handmade wearable art piece that provided me comfort. I was attracted to this particular print because the bright colors and bold pattern.

A recent example of her work was showcased during the Ghana Tech Summit and The Blk Gala held in Accra at the Science and Technology museum. Nana’s own Ghanaian Kente cloth, traditional African sponge fabric plus repurposed T-shirts from the local Accra Market combined to create this amazing piece. Every detail was handcrafted down to the last stitch with cotton fillings for effect.

Nana’s approach to wearable art is not only magnificent but stands as a testament to her ambition and commitment to developing original works from her cultural background. As one of few certified Ghanaian fashion designers operating in Africa today, Nana Yaa Serwaah Akuoku has been putting true Ghanaian flavor into her creations for years — pleasing fashion critics near and far!

For those looking for alternative, high quality Ghanaian inspired fashion pieces that evoke culture, creativity and sophistication, there’s no better designer than Nana Yaa-Serwaah Akuoku.
