A protective technique wrapping the hair is a used by African American and Latina women to preserve straight hairstyles. Interchangeably called a “doobie” or “wrap” depending on the region, the style is created by brushinG the hair in one direction around the circumference of the head and securing with bobby pins.

When Rihanna adorned the Pseudo hair style to the VMA’s In 2017, all of pop culture raced to understand this “new” chic look. All but Dominican and African American girls whom were instead, mostly puzzled, left wondering about the choice of Rhi Rhi to rock “Bedtime” hair at this mainstream event.

I think that often times, in our black culture (actually in various cultures in general) because over long periods of time even richness can feel mundane; subsequently it cause some to overlook the Art that is created though just “Doing and “Being”.
